As always, I love a good DIY that has some instructions, but variety in the outcome and is multifunctional. Since resin is clear, you can add whatever color paint, gold foil, or glitter to these letters to make different sets. We will be using these in our sensory bin and as a gift for little ones.

I purchased this alphabet and number mold off of Amazon and this casting and coating epoxy resin kit from Amazon. I like the kit for making one set, but I would buy a bigger size of resin if you are wanting to make more than one set.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Poor equal parts resin and hardener into 2 cups and then pour those 2 cups into a third mixing cup.

Step 2: Mix for 1 to 2 minutes or until there are no streaks left in the resin.

Step 3: Pour your mixed resin into a new cup and stir for another 30 seconds until all streaks are gone.

Step 4: You can either pour this resin as is for a clear finish or you can mix in any color, gold foil, or glitter. If you are using more than one color, pour the clear resin from the mixing cups into new cups one for each color and then stir in your pigments. I had a total of 4 cups; pink, clear with glitter, gold and clear with gold foil.

Step 5: From here, pour your resin into the alphabet mold on a flat surface. Resin has a 40 minute work time, but it’s good to work quickly. Your finished casting can be removed from the mold after 24 hours. If after 24 hours they are wet or bendable, then the ratio was off and you can try again! I plan on storing these letters in an extra canvas bag I received from my Solly baby pajamas or another small shop.

What can you use them for?

There are lots of fun options to use your resin letters for! Use them to help kids learn letters or how to spell. You can also add magnets to the back to use for the refrigerator! Put them in a sensory bin with rice and have them scoop the letters out. Make keychains out of the letters. Use them in play dough and have some fun!
