It’s the best to celebrate our babies and bittersweet to watch them grow older. Just a couple months ago, I shared about Clay’s first down birthday party and last week, we celebrated Lylah’s third birthday with a cherry theme, per her request. After months of asking for a cherry birthday party, we drew up the invitation on my ipad together and began to plan. I always check Meri Meri first because they have the cutest supplies and I was so excited to see they had a whole cherry line! It was the sweetest day celebrating our girl with our family and friends. We grilled, decorated cupcakes and played with her new gifts. We are so grateful for the community we have here to celebrate our girl.

Cupcake decorating

Since most of Lylah’s friends/guests were under the age of four, we decided to have cupcake decorating be our main activity. I knew this could potentially be messy, but Lylah loves to bake and I knew it would be a huge hit with her. I ordered plastic paint pallets that were about the size of a cake plate and put the icing, sprinkles and cupcake on it to make decorating easier. This way all the kids didn’t have to wait their turn to shake sprinkles on and it was less of a mess. I prepped all of this plates the night before on a cookie sheet so I could spend my time with guests the day of the party and then the morning of the party, I added the cupcake on top.

Creating a store bought cake

One of my favorite places to buy cake is Costco; they are so affordable and delicious. It’s actually where we got our wedding cake too! We bought the white cake and I bought maraschino cherries to add to the top. I ordered champagne colored edible glitter and dipped the cherries halfway in the glitter and placed them on the cake and then finished it off by dusting the cake in glitter. We added these Meri Meri cherry candles on top.
